Spacex Plans To Launch Weather Satellite

Florida Rocket Launch This Week

SpaceX Plans to Launch Weather Satellite

If weather conditions permit, the launch of this satellite will be visible to those on the Space Coast and as far north as Jacksonville.

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, July 14, for the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying the GOES-U weather satellite from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

The launch window opens at 5:03 p.m. ET, and the launch will be visible to those on the Space Coast and as far north as Jacksonville. The launch can also be viewed live on SpaceX's website.

GOES-U is a next-generation weather satellite that will provide critical data for weather forecasting and climate monitoring. The satellite will be placed in geostationary orbit, where it will have a constant view of the same region of Earth.

The launch of GOES-U is a major milestone for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which operates the GOES satellite system. The new satellite will replace GOES-16, which has been in operation since 2016.

SpaceX has a proven track record of successfully launching satellites into orbit. The company has launched dozens of missions for NASA, NOAA, and other customers.

The launch of GOES-U is a significant event for Florida's Space Coast. The region has a long history of space exploration, and the launch of this weather satellite will continue that legacy.
